Time tracking

Log time against a task with the timer or a quick entry, mark it billable, and track actual vs estimate.

Log the time you spend on a task from the Time card on the task detail page. Each worklog records a duration, an optional note, and whether the time is billable, and the card tracks your logged time against the task's estimate.

Two ways to log time

  • Run the timer — click Start timer and it counts up while you work. When you're done, the stop button reads Stop & log with the elapsed time (e.g. Stop & log 2h 15m) and writes the entry.
  • Quick entry — type a duration in the field (placeholder e.g. 1h 30m), optionally add a note answering What did you work on?, and click Log.

Durations are flexible: 90, 90m, 1h, 1.5h, and 1h 30m all work. Time is stored in minutes and displayed as 30m, 2h, or 2h 30m.

Billable vs non-billable

Each entry has a Billable checkbox, on by default. Uncheck it for time that shouldn't be billed — those entries show a Non-billable badge in the list.

Actual vs estimate

The card header shows total time logged and, when the task has an estimate, the figure / Y est. A progress bar tracks logged against estimate — green while you're under budget, red once you go over, with an Over estimate by … warning.

Tips

  • Prefer the timer for focused work and quick entry for catching up at end of day. Either way, log it the same day — reconstructed time is guesswork.
  • Set an estimate on the task so the progress bar means something. Without one you can still log time, but there's nothing to track against.
  • Keep the Billable flag honest. It's the basis for anything that bills off these worklogs.

Experience Mode

In Simple mode the Time card keeps the timer and quick log but hides the detailed entry list and note field, so logging stays one tap. Full mode shows every entry with its note, billable state, and date.
