HR overview
The people side of Vertiqa — an employee directory, a time-off approval queue, and balance snapshots.

HR is where you keep track of the people who work here and the time they take off. It is a lightweight people-operations module — a directory and a leave workflow — not a payroll or accrual engine.
The three surfaces
- Employees — the directory: one record per person, with status, department, employment type, and (for permitted roles) compensation.
- Time Off — the request and approval queue: dated leave commitments that move through pending → approved or declined.
- Balances — operator-maintained snapshots of accrued, used, and available hours per employee, type, and period.
How they fit together
A person starts as an employee record. When they need leave, a time-off request is raised against that employee and an approver decides it. Balances record how much leave each person has — you keep them current by hand; Vertiqa does not auto-accrue.
Roles and permissions
HR data is sensitive, so several actions are permission-gated:
- Compensation fields on an employee only appear for roles with the compensation permission.
- Approving or declining a time-off request requires the approver permission — others can view and submit, but not decide.
If a control you expect is missing, your role likely doesn't have it — ask an admin.
