Create a formal RFQ from an inquiry

Turn an inbound inquiry into a reviewed formal RFQ draft using Draft Assist.

A formal RFQ is the structured document that writes down what the customer is asking for — scope, requirements, and the things nobody has answered yet. You draft one from an inbound inquiry so the original ask stays attached to the record.

RFQs are not a separate workspace. The draft lives on the inquiry as a Draft Assist artifact, and you work it in the Draft Assist editor.

Steps

  1. Open the inbound inquiry.
  2. In the Draft Assist card, choose Draft Formal RFQ. The agent reads the inquiry thread and produces a sectioned draft.
  3. Open the draft to review it. Vertiqa marks what it couldn't determine rather than inventing it — see Edit formal RFQ content.
  4. Export a PDF when the draft is ready to share. See Export formal RFQ to PDF.

Human approval is required

Draft Assist produces a draft, never a sent document. Nothing leaves Vertiqa because the agent finished — you review, edit, and export deliberately.

What gets linked

  • The draft is an artifact on the originating inquiry, so it stays on that record's history.
  • If the inquiry is associated with an opportunity, the RFQ can be turned into a draft estimate from the same editor — Generate Draft Estimate creates it and takes you to the commercial estimate.

Tip

If the inquiry contains multiple distinct asks, draft one RFQ per ask rather than packing them into a single document. A document that covers two jobs produces an estimate that prices neither one cleanly.
